The Eagle from Caguas has landed in Las Vegas.
Is it me or does Miguel I’m No Angel Cotto look a bit withdrawn as he landed at the airport in Fun City?
I don’t want to make too much out of one photo but Cotto’s cheeks look a little hollow like a guy who may be batting a weight problem. He looks a tad weight drained.
Is Cotto going to make the contract weight of 145 pounds or is he having problems? We shall soon find out.
In a rare attempt to be evenhanded here, I must say it is a good move, a professional and veteran move by the Cotto camp to come into Vegas two weeks before the Nov. 14 mega bout at the MGM Grand Hotel.
I know Cotto, at 28, is two years younger than Pacquiao but jet lag after five hours on an airplane are something some boxers can’t shake off in just a few days. (As my unofficial editor Jou Mouer points out, Cotto came to LV from Tampa not from Isla Encanta but there is still a three hour time difference.)
The extra time in Nevada can only help make Cotto feel more settled and comfortable. That is if he doesn’t mentally flashback to or dwell on the pounding Antonio Margocheato gave him there.
Cotto will remain in Vegas now except for a down and back same day trip to Los Angeles for a media workout on Tuesday.
Your White Gorilla will be on the scene like a jelly bean.
